Sam Fender has announced an upcoming collaboration with Sir Elton John for a new song called ‘Talk To You’.
He shared the news on social media earlier this week, revealing the song would be out October 17 and would feature the “legend” on the piano. He also shared the artwork for the single.
Elton John responded on his Instagram story, sharing the post and writing, “Incredibly excited for this,” as well as commenting on the announcement post, “Love you, Sam. This is a special one”
The pair have previously performed together and have spoken highly of each other, and this announcement comes after Sam Fender had teased a collaboration with his “good friend playing piano” on Instagram.
The collaboration was first teased last week, with an advert that also confirmed the news of a deluxe edition of his latest album ‘People Watching‘.
The advert read, “Track 02. Talk To You (ft.)” before a blank name, which led fans to question who the featured artist could be.

There are also two countdowns on Sam Fender’s website at the moment, one that’s counting down to the release of ‘Talk To You’ and one that fans are speculating could be counting down until the deluxe version of the album is released.
‘People Watching‘, which earned the biggest opening week in the UK for a British artist since Harry Styles with ‘Harry’s House’ in 2021, is up for this year’s Mercury Prize. He will find out if the album wins today (October 16).
He will be performing at the ceremony, which is taking place in his hometown in Newcastle. He is up against artists including Wolf Alice, Pulp and Fontaines D.C.
Since the announcement of the collaboration, the duo have spoken about how the collaboration came about.
Sam Fender appeared on Elton John’s Rocket Hour on Apple Music.
Sam Fender said, “So when we started this one, I don’t know what it was, it was like I had this one piano, I had that piano part, which is the main riff,”
“And, obviously, we were at Chiswick at the time. And I was like, ‘Oh, I would love to get somebody better at piano than me.’ I was like, I wonder who I know. Who can I call?”
Elton John then replied: “It was so much fun to come and play on one of your songs, because we’ve been friends for a long, long time.”
