When ‘Fusion Flats’, the 2000 EP by Detroit’s Drexciya, was first released on Tresor, it stood as evidence of the duo’s continual pushing of boundaries in electro and techno. Now, more than two decades later, the label has announced its reissue on vinyl and across digital platforms for the first time.
The reissue date is set for November 7, 2025, the day this EP will be available to be streamed and downloaded widely and, more importantly, available for physical purchase. The original pressing has been out of print; for many fans, the only ways to listen to ‘Fusion Flats’ were via second‐hand vinyl or incomplete digital leaks. This reissue aims to remedy that.
The revival of ‘Fusion Flats’ is not simply a reprint. The audio has been remastered for better fidelity, rebalancing and cleaning up the original recordings to make them resonate for current listening formats.
Alongside the original title track, the EP includes several remixes: by Octave One, Kaotic Spacial Rhythms, and 043 Chaos. These versions offer alternative takes, pushing the track’s motifs into different rhythmic and emotional territories.
Visually, there’s new artwork: commissioned from Detroit-based contemporary artist Matthew Angelo Harrison, who has already been involved in previous reissues of Drexciya’s Tresor catalogue.
Drexciya – Gerald Donald and James Stinson – have long held a mythical status in electronic music. Their work is as much about conceptual myth-building as it is about musical content.
The reissue is part of a broader campaign by Tresor to reissue several of Drexciya’s works: ‘Neptune’s Lair’, ‘Hydro Doorways’, ‘Harnessed The Storm’, ‘Digital Tsunami’ are all getting new vinyl editions. Some will also come in cassette format. This wave of reissues follows the 20th anniversary of James Stinson’s passing and serves both as memorial and reconnection, making available works that have been difficult to access.
The reissue of ‘Fusion Flats’ is more than a re‑echo of the past, it’s a reclamation. It restores a part of Drexciya’s output to the public with care, offering updated sound, renewed visuals, and broad accessibility. For fans of techno, electro, or any experimental electronic music, ‘Fusion Flats 2025’ is an invitation to dive back into the musical landscape Drexciya created, clearer and more accessible than ever.
The digital and vinyl formats are available for pre-order here.
