London based rhythm and blues collective, The Pink Panther Club, are set to return to the iconic Rivoli Ballroom for a third time, this Sunday, July 20.
The Pink Panther Club has established itself as one of the hottest nights in London for those whose tastes are of the mid-century persuasion. Their unique ‘scene-ambiguous’ approach means that they attract people from various subcultures, mainly hailing from the 50s and 60s.
Originally founded in 2017 by young Modette, Scarlet Bayliss, the club resided within an old 50s dance hall, which has since been demolished.
After a short hiatus, it was announced in 2024 that The Pink Panther Club would make a return. With Bayliss still at the helm, the club took on a roster of four resident DJs; Charles Whitehouse, Ryan Brown, Dale Easthorpe and Jake Bonicci. And, with the old dance hall no longer standing, the club found itself a shiny new home in Brockley’s very own Rivoli Ballroom.
Being the only remaining 50s ballroom in London, the Rivoli Ballroom was the perfect match for the 50s and 60s rhythm and blues played by the club’s DJs, and has proven to be very popular with punters.
The Pink Panther Club are back this weekend and welcome guest DJ Vernon Whittle to the lineup. With music playing from 2-8PM, the afternoon session seems the ‘place to be’ this Sunday for all fans of rhythm and blues, mid-century dress and period dance.
It has also been announced that The Pink Panther Club will host the ‘Friday Night Frenzy’ at this year’s Rhythm Riot at Reedcutters. The Rhythm Riot is one of there UK’s largest rhythm and blues, vintage themed events and is held annually in Great Yarmouth.
