British indie trailblazer Dodie Clarke, also known as dodie, has teased new music to come on 4 June. The artist has sparked excitement for fans with the caption “it’s been too long!!!!” under her post of a dark ocean scene.
In her cryptic Instagram post, dodie has announced a new song and accompanying video to be released, though the title is unknown. Excitement for the new release has built since the artist has not released new music since her jazzy Chet Baker tribute single ‘Old Devil Moon’ in 2024. Fans have been anticipating a new release for a while, discussing her activity on social media. One fan predicts a small collection of songs to be released following her last EP ‘Hot Mess’ in 2024. They also consider what genre the artist will focus on in this album such as jazz or “indie pop opera” following the acoustic indie-pop tracks on ‘Hot Mess’ as well as her involvement in the band FIZZ.

The recent music announcement comes after the disbanding of the indie pop group FIZZ, comprised of dodie, Orla Gartland, Greta Isaac and Martin Luke Brown in July 2024. The band stated that it was time to “say goodbye to this chapter of Fizz” to focus on the members’ individual musical pursuits, leading to dodie’s announcement of new music.
Dodie’s last studio album ‘Build A Problem’ was released four years ago in 2024 and achieved great success, debuting at number one for three weeks on the UK Official Albums Chart. Following this, dodie hinted at big things to come, whilst also discussing her difficulties in creating with Ramona magazine. She said, “I have a very big thing I cannot talk about yet and that will be the focus of this year. In terms of my own music, I’m supposed to be writing another album. I would really like to, but the pressures of it are making me dry. I have nothing. I’m trying to give myself space and patience, but it’s just really hard. I’m at that classic writer’s block moment.”
Despite the wait for this release, dodie has been doing some exciting things in music. She recently wowed fans in a surprise live performance with award winning actor and musician Jeff Goldblum. The two performed alongside the Mildred Nitz Orchestra with fans amazed at their musical chemistry.
