Iconic ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced the release of her new album ‘Perimenopop’, out on September 12th, alongside an album launch show at London’s famous KOKO venue on September 8th. The show announcement follows the release of her brand new single ‘Taste’, a funky upbeat collaboration with MNEK and Charli XCX’s producer Jon Shave. The song celebrates and signals the singer’s return to her famous disco-pop sound that made her the household name that she is today.
In a chat with Dork Magazine, the singer said: ““With ‘Taste’, I collaborated with MNEK and Jon Shave to write a playful, flirtatious pop song about chemistry,” Ellis-Bextor explains. “What can really make you want to be around someone is when their taste, what they like in life, is something you become addicted to. You want to experience all delights with them and share it with them as everything they introduce you to feels just right. All your senses feel alive and awake – like the full flavour of life is realised. Chef’s kiss.”
Following the resurgence of her 2001 pop hit ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, thanks to the acclaimed movie Saltburn starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, Ellis-Bextor re-entered global charts, earning platinum status in the U.S., double BRIT platinum in the UK, and climbing to #2 on the Official UK Singles Chart and #51 on the Billboard Hot 100. With five Top 10 albums and eight Top 10 singles to her name, Sophie has played sold-out tours in Europe and the US supporting Take That and Nile Rodgers whilst also performing on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage. She will embark on her UK tour this spring, including a sold-out Royal Albert Hall show.
Tickets for the ‘Perimenopop’ album launch at KOKO will be available via pre-sale on May 14th with album pre-orders, and on general sale from May 16th via Ticketmaster.
